Mr Joseph Alexis

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Joseph is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Joseph received his Postgraduate Certificate as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner from Reading University and went on to gain a Diploma in CBT from Staffordshire University.

Having worked in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services since the programme’s inception in 2008, Joseph’s appreciation for successfully applying evidence-based treatments is derived from the high volume of recovered patients he has treated over the years. Joseph has led on implementing CBT-based online packages and group therapy programmes in a range of NHS Trusts, ultimately ensuring that psychological therapies are made more accessible to the wider population.

Joseph is also a Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) Registered Mental Health Nurse, having qualified in 2006. This professional background has been positively complimentary in his delivery of CBT as he recognises the importance addressing all aspects of health: sleep, exercise and nutrition all playing a role in the individual’s wellbeing.

Joseph’s articulation and use of these therapies are supported by his strong ability to develop a warm, empathic therapeutic relationship with his clients. Joseph finds that his curious and open-minded approach to people's problems helps them to achieve their desired outcomes. He often likes to bring humour appropriately and therapeutically into the therapy room – not to be disrespectful of pain, but in such a way as to maintain perspective and balance.

Joseph covers the Northamptonshire town of Wellingborough and surrounding areas.
